Thinking critically is fundamental to exploring and understanding science and solving problems. Using both mathematical and scientific methods students will explore and solve problems that will strengthen their ability to think and see problems critically.
Developing students' self management through solving complex problems in science and mathematics builds resilience and initiative as students find different ways to understand problems and find solutions.

Contributions and Equipment/StationeryThere is a $40.50 course fee that covers the subscription to NZGrapher, course resources and worksheets.
All students must have the Year 9 Nulake Mathematics workbook for practice that can be ordered online via Office Max.
OPTIONAL:
A) Students can order Level 4 Nulake Mathematics Homework book for extra practice.
B) Students can subscribe for Education Perfect - a digital learning platform and get access to range of lessons, practice tasks.
Students MUST have their own Scientific/Graphics calculator (recommended by NZQA), 1E5 Quad books, ruler, eraser and a protractor along with a pen/pencil when they arrive for the Maths class. They also need a working, charged laptop for educational tools such as Google Classroom.
