Year 11 Science Skills (11SCS)

11SCS
Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Henty

Pre-requisites

This Year 11 Science Skills course has five internal papers which leads onto 12SCI (five internals) and then 13SCI (five internals), with 13SCI having UE accreditation.

The alternative is Year 11 Science (11SCI), which may be more suitable to higher achieving students.  11SCI has 2 internal papers and 3 external papers. 11SCI leads on to Chemistry (12CHE), Physics (12PHY), Biology (12BIO).

11SCS develops scientific reasoning, experimental technique, research skills and some base knowledge while completing assessments during the year rather than with external examinations.

11SCS is a course suited to those who do not wish to continue with science (but can change their mind), or those who require the flexibility of internal assessment.

Students may choose between 11SCI and 11SCS (not both). Staff will use grades and ownership of learning reports from Year 9 and 10 to aid the student to make the right choice for Year 11.
