Year 12 Mathematics with Calculus (12MATC)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Anderson.
The 12MATC course will give students a solid grounding in Algebra, an introduction to Calculus, and develop their problem solving skills in various contexts. Students will be offered the opportunity to gain a total of 18 unique credits, consisting of 9 credits from internally assessed standards and 9 credits from externally assessed standards. Completing this course will facilitate entry into the Level 3 Mathematics with Calculus programme. The course also offers an opportunity for subject endorsement.
Note: Students will need a scientific calculator for this course.
Pre-requisites
Students must have 14 credits at Level 1 in Mathematics including passing the assessments for 1.2 Algebra and 1.3 TEG and approval by the HOD. At least one of these results must be at Merit level or higher.
For 11 CPS students - A pass in MS 1.2 & MS 1.4, with at least one at Merit or higher.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
There is a $50 course fee that covers the subscription to Education Perfect, which is our e-learning platform, NZGrapher, and Walkermaths workbooks. A scientific calculator is needed for this course.
