Year 12 Digital Technology - Electronics (12DTE)
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr R. Rounds.
In this course students learn about systems technology. They learn how to interface, construct and program sensors and actuators in an electronics environment using embedded technology (Arduino). Students apply programming techniques to work with embedded systems and test their product for reliability and functionality. They learn concepts related to printed circuit boards and use CAD to design and fabricate boards for their projects. Students are also introduced to Raspberry Pi and use this to set up local area networks (LAN) to develop an understanding of how networks behave and operate. The course has a reasonably heavy workload that involves a combination of written and practical work.
Assessments in this course are based on a collection of portfolio work with photos and video evidence to demonstrate the functionality of the electronics product. There are three portfolio assessments for the course and one report write up. The course has a strong focus on programming and electronics hardware.
Pre-requisites
Y11 DTE and achieved 14 or more achievement standard credits or approval by the HOD
This course leads in Y13 DTE which is a UE approved course.

Material fee of $95 to cover individual projects materials.
