Year 13 Mathematics with Calculus (13MAC)

Course Description

The 13MAC course will give students a solid foundation in Calculus and develop their problem solving skills in various algebra and calculus contexts. Students will be offered the opportunity to gain a total of 21 unique credits, consisting of 4 credits from an internally assessed standard and 17 credits from externally assessed standards. As a UE approved subject, this course will prepare students for entry into tertiary studies, mainly in Engineering, Computing, and the Physical Sciences. The course also offers an opportunity for subject endorsement.

Note: Students will need a graphing/scientific calculator for this course.


Pre-requisites

Students must have 14 credits at Level 2 in Mathematics with Calculus (12MATC) including passing the external assessments for 2.6 Algebra Methods and 2.7 Calculus Methods and approval by the HOD.  At least one of these results must be at Merit level or higher.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

There is a $50 course fee that covers the subscription to Education Perfect, which is our e-learning platform, NZGrapher, and Nulake workbooks. A graphing/scientific calculator is needed for this course.
