Year 13 Mathematics with Calculus (13MAC)
Course Description

The 13MAC course will give students a solid foundation in Calculus and develop their problem-solving skills in various algebra and calculus contexts.
This course offers 24 credits at Level three. It consists of two Internal assessments, two mandatory and one optional external assessment. The mandatory Internal and external achievement standards offered have a total of 18 credits.
As a UE approved subject, this course will prepare students for entry into tertiary studies, mainly in Engineering, Computing, and the Physical Sciences. The course also offers an opportunity for subject endorsement.
Note: Students will need a Scientific/Graphic calculator (recommended by NZQA) for this course.
Pre-requisites
Students must have 14 credits at Level 2 in Mathematics with Calculus (12MATC) including an Achieved for both external assessments - 2.6 Algebra Methods and 2.7 Calculus Methods and approval by the HOLA.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
There is a $40 course fee that covers NZGrapher, online subscriptions and worksheets.
Optional - 1) It is recommended that students have the Nulake Calculus workbooks for practice of external standards($24) and internal standards($17)
which can be ordered via the school office.
2) Students can subscribe for Education Perfect (a digital learning platform) and get access to range of lessons, practice tasks, practice
assessments as well as past external papers.
Students MUST have their own Scientific/Graphics calculator (recommended by NZQA) and 1E5 Quad books.

Only students engaged in learning and achievement derived from Te Marautanga o Aotearoa are eligible to be awarded these subjects as part of the requirement for 14 credits in each of three subjects.
