Course Description

In this course, students learn how to design and manufacture wooden furniture items by working with hand tools and portable power equipment. They learn how to compile a job specification for an item of furniture by using sketching techniques to communicate working drawings and confirm materials/cost and cutting list for items of furniture. They will also be introduced to furniture hardware and its installation. They will learn to prepare furniture components through the construction of hand joints, jigs and templates. They will apply their practical skills to achieve a high-quality functional furniture item.
Assessment for this course is based on completion of assessment record sheets/student workbooks supplied by COMPETENZ AND functional furniture products.
Successful completion of this course can lead into vocational and apprenticeship programs.
Pre-requisites
11 RMT or 11 EFT or 11 BCP and HOD approval.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
$150 to cover for materials costs.

Total Credits Available: 24 credits.
