Year 10 Expressive Wellbeing: Physical Education, Health and The Arts (10EWB)

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Thompson.

Expressive Wellbeing is made up of the core curriculum areas of:

  • Physical Education
  • Health
  • Visual Arts or Drama

Students learn about contexts related to Health with a creative twist to enable them to express themselves individually and collaboratively. The creative aspect (Visual arts or Drama) of the course is determined by the teaching partnership for that pod. 

Topics covered throughout the year:

  • Mental health 
  • Drugs
  • Sexuality

This course will explicitly develop the college Capabilities of:

  • Creative and critical thinking – in which students apply critical, creative, and analytical thought processes to address a range of real-world applications of problem-solving.

Students will take their learning and express it in different ways to show their understanding of topics.

  • Global Leadership - understanding different viewpoints and ways of thinking to lead and empathise with others. 

Students will be encouraged to explore different perspectives and issues in group settings to gain a deeper understanding of the world around them.

The Physical Education curriculum taught within the EWB class covers topics including: 

  • Fundamental Movement
  • Invasion Games
  • Factors Affecting Participation
  • Understanding the Body & Movement.
